What exactly is Pimp My Wheelchair ?

It is a program built upon an idea conceived by The Banoun Foundation to help bring cheer and happiness to wheelchair bound individuals everywhere.

This is done by customizing out the very equipment they spend the majority of their time in. Our goal is to remove some of the cold hard feel from the metal and rubber. This is done by replacing it with exotic paints and cutting edge fabrics. The end result of this project is to give these individuals a chance to turn a negative situation into a positive, by allowing them to express creativity and individuality in the design of their personal wheelchairs.

Program Highlights

  • Creates bonds with children on a global level
  • Allows individuals to be involved in the actual finish choices and designs (Pride + Creativity = Eye Candy!)
  • Bring smiles and joy to the lives of individuals worldwide
  • Promotes pride in a child's current assistance equipment
  • Provides media outlet to any major corporation
The Ike and Allegra Banoun foundation are honored to have ALSA CORP as one of their key sponsors. Having ALSA on this team turns their dream into a reality. This is done through their donations of paints and fabrics.

Program Highlights

  • Worldwide - Starting in Los Angeles, spreading out across the United States and making its way over the oceans and lands afar!
  • Planning - Once the request is made and the paint selection is complete, the chair and paint will be delivered to one of many top notch painters
  • Execution - After turning dreams into reality these painters will accompany the team to the delivery so that they can share in the happiness that their hard work and many shop hours have provided, completing the mission of the Pimp My Wheelchair program.
